Production Process of Rubber Water Hose

The production process for rubber water hoses typically involves the following steps

1

Mixing: The first step in the production process is to mix the rubber compound. This involves combining natural or synthetic rubber with various additives, such as fillers, curing agents, and accelerators. The mixture is then heated and stirred to create a homogeneous blend.

2

Extrusion:The mixed rubber compound is then fed into an extruder, which is a machine that shapes the rubber into a continuous tube. The extruder applies pressure and heat to the rubber, which forces it through a die that shapes it into the desired size and shape.

3

Reinforcement: Once the rubber tube has been extruded, it is reinforced with a layer of fabric or wire. This layer provides additional strength and durability to the hose.

4

Curing:The reinforced high pressure water hoses are then placed in a curing oven, where it is heated to a specific temperature and held for a set amount of time. This process allows the rubber to fully cure and become strong and durable.

5

Finishing: After curing, the rubber water hose is cut to the desired length and fitted with couplings or fittings that allow it to be connected to a water source.

Rubber Water Hose: The Ultimate FAQ Guide

Q: Is rubber hose better?

A: Rubber hoses are ideal for any application that requires a flexible hose or tube. Rubber is known to able to retain its flexibility, whilst also being resistant to kinks and abrasions.

Q: What are rubber water hoses used for?

A: Rubber hose is widely used in conveying systems for both pipeline and bends and in systems where a degree of natural flexibility is required. Its particular properties also make it ideal for use in systems where the material being conveyed may be friable, abrasive, or cohesive.

Q: How long do rubber water hoses last?

A: Rubber hoses resiliency weaken as they age, making them subject to cracks, leaks, and bursting. Studies show failure rates increase significantly in hoses that are more than five years old. The average age of failed hoses was 8.7 years. 80% of hoses fail within 10 years.

Q: Why are water hose made from rubber?

A: Hoses can be reinforced with nylon, tire cord, or mesh; this makes them more resistant to kinking or splitting. Generally speaking, rubber is the strongest and most durable material, while vinyl is the least durable. Rubber is less likely to kink and resists cracking or sun deterioration.

Q: Are rubber hoses water safe?

A: Don't buy hoses made of PVC if you can avoid it. Polyurethane or rubber hoses labeled "drinking water safe" are better options. While PVC hose packaging often doesn't indicate what the hose is made out of, polyurethane hose labels often do.

Q: Are silicone water hoses better than rubber?

A: Silicone hoses are capable of carrying fluids at much higher temperatures than rubber. If you're building a racing vehicle or adding a turbocharger to your engine, silicone is the way to go. Silicone has a good ability to dampen sounds and vibrations, keeping a quiet and stable profile.

Q: Can you use rubber hose for hot water?

A: A premium rubber hose that can take the heat up to 180 degrees. Can be used for hot and cold water applications. Sometimes the right hose is all you need to get the heavy work done. Available in multiple sizes, our Apex USA made hoses are always engineered with you in mind.

Q: Are rubber garden hoses drinking water safe?

A: Don't drink water from a hose: Unless you know for sure that your hose is phthalate-free and drinking water safe, don't drink from it. Even low levels of lead may cause health problems.

Q: Is a rubber hose better than plastic?

A: Vinyl hoses aren't as durable as rubber hoses. A rubber garden hose requires the most upfront investment. They're tougher, more flexible and heavier than vinyl hoses. Overall, rubber hoses are more durable.

Q: Is rubber good for garden hose?

A: For heavy use, a rubber hose provides long-lasting durability at a much lower cost than polyurethane. And despite rubber's reputation for being cumbersome, our testers found this hose to be easy to maneuver around pots and not overly heavy.

Q: Are steel hoses better than rubber?

A: Because a steel hose is less likely to burst and cause water damage to your home, you're also less likely to heave to deal with electrical hazards and slippery surfaces that could cause you or your family members to trip and fall.

Q: How do you stop a rubber hose from leaking?

A: To mend a small hole or leak in your hose, try using electrical tape, duct tape or specially designed hose repair tape. Clean and dry the hose section before applying. Overlap the tape as you wrap it around the hose.

Q: Which is better rubber or hybrid water hose?

A: Hoses are typically made of rubber, rubber hybrids, vinyl, or polyurethane. Rubber tends to be more flexible regardless of temperature, but it's also the heaviest. Polyurethane and hybrids tend to be more kink resistant, and lighter.

Q: Does a rubber hose leave marks?

A: Another benefit of a polyurethane hose is that its cover is 100% non-marking. So you won't have to worry about it leaving marks across clean surfaces. Rubber hoses however can sometimes leave marks on surfaces or a small black residue on your hands after reeling it in.

Q: How do you maintain rubber hoses?

A: The hose should be stored in a dry and clean place, which is free from mildew or dampness. If stored in cold extremes, the hose may crack on flexing. Thus, it is important to warm the hose before flexing. Protect the rubber hose assemblies from gnawing rodents, as well as boring insects.

Q: How do you preserve a rubber hose?

A: Using an engine protectant every few months will keep your hoses looking clean, your rubber moist and flexible (drying out causes cracking), and extend the amount of time between repairs.

Q: How much heat can a rubber hose take?

A: General-Purpose grades are recommended for Continuous Working Temperatures below 205 deg C (400 F), although they can handle much high 'peak' intermittent temperatures.

Q: What happens if you run hot water through a garden hose?

A: Leaving a garden hose exposed to sunlight can cause the water inside to become dangerously hot. Research has shown that the temperature inside a garden hose can reach up to 140 degrees, which can result in burns for both humans and animals, including children.

Q: What is the difference between thermoplastic and rubber hose?

A: Since rubber never stops curing, and UV exposure only accelerates the curing process, the shelf life of rubber hoses is 10-years. Whereas thermoplastic hoses are made with Urethane, which is UV, Ozone, and Abrasion resistant and provide unlimited shelf life.

Q: What is EPDM rubber hose?

A: EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and a diene monomer making EPDM tubing an outstanding resistance to oxygen, ozone, and sunlight. It is resistant to polar materials such as phosphate esters, many ketones and alcohol.
