How to maintain and service fire hoses

What are the methods of Fire Hose Pipe maintenance and care
1. Daily maintenance
Regular inspection:
Carry out a visual inspection of the fire hose every week or month to check whether the hose is damaged, cracked, worn, aged, etc. Pay special attention to check whether the joints of the hose are firm and whether there is any looseness or leakage.
Check whether the hose is folded correctly to avoid twisting, entanglement, etc., to ensure that it can be quickly deployed and used in an emergency.
Cleaning and maintenance:
After each use, the dirt, sand, etc. on the surface of the hose should be cleaned in time. The hose can be rinsed with clean water and then dried to avoid long-term moisture causing mold and corrosion.
Clean the storage environment of the hose and keep the storage place dry, ventilated and free of corrosive substances.
2. Regular maintenance
Stress Test:
Perform pressure tests on fire hoses regularly, usually once a year. Connect the hose to the pressure test pump and test it at the specified pressure to check if there are any leaks, ruptures, etc.
If any problems are found with the hose during the pressure test, it should be replaced or repaired in time.
Flip the hose:
In order to extend the service life of the hose, the hose should be turned over once every period of time (usually half a year). This will evenly distribute the wear of the hose and avoid excessive wear on one side.
Lubricate the fittings:
Lubricate the hose joints regularly, using special lubricants or vaseline to prevent the joints from rusting or getting stuck. But be careful not to use too much lubricant to avoid contaminating the hose.
3. Storage requirements
Coil storage:
Fire hoses should be stored in coils when not in use. The diameter of the coil should not be too small to avoid damaging the hose. When coiling, start from one end of the hose and coil it in sequence to ensure that the hose is flat and not twisted.
Hanging storage:
For longer hoses, you can store them by hanging them. Use a special hose hook or hanger to hang the hose in a dry, ventilated place to prevent it from touching the ground or other sharp objects.
Avoid direct sunlight:
Fire hoses should be stored in a place away from direct sunlight, because the ultraviolet rays in the sun will accelerate the aging of the hoses. You can choose to store them in a cool place or use a sunshade to block them.
4. Notes
Prevent damage:
During use and storage, prevent the water hose from being scratched or punctured by sharp objects, and avoid the water hose from being run over by vehicles.
When moving the water hose, be careful not to drag or throw it.
Replace in time:
If the fire hose is severely damaged, aged, leaking, etc., it should be replaced with a new one in time to ensure that it can be used normally in the event of a fire.
Training users:
Provide training to personnel who use fire hoses so that they are familiar with the correct use, maintenance requirements and precautions of the hoses, so as to improve the efficiency and life of the hoses.
